Big Audio Dynamite

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

Now, here’s one potential reunion that we didn’t see coming. According to co-founder and sampler Don Letts, there’s a very good chance that Big Audio Dynamite — the group he formed with ex-Clash guitarist Mick Jones — could well be hitting the comeback trail.

More here.

OK Go makes two fun videos, catchy tune

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Last seen on the viralness of the treadmill video.  I thought the coordination was better than the song.

Here I think they nailed both, pleasantly. Same song, two different, cool videos.

The other is not embeddable but, I think slightly better.

Mike Patton slays me

He is a bag of sarcasm packed into a suitcase of sarcasm loaded onto a plane of sarcasm.

And his comments on the state of music today jive with exactly what I’ve been saying… crap! The catch is, of course, the interview is from 1992.

Things really never got much better. I’d love to see him do a new interview with the same questions, and a fresh sandwich.

Weller and Foxton back together? AWESOME!

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

It’s been a long time since any new music grabbed my attention. I turn on the radio and it’s mostly crap. It all sounds the damn same. Either I’ve got old guy disease or it really is mostly shit.

Hell, I’ve only had one band in over a decade where I actually enjoy their whole album (you go Garbage!).

But then I saw this – Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton are getting back into the studio together. That’s fantastic news. I really, really hope they can recapture the sound and energy they produced in the 70′s.  The Jam was an amazing band. Like the Clash, they could write and play like no other. Few could touch their talent or message.

Here’s hoping they produce something that’ll inspire me to buy some music again.

Arc Attack – giant Tesla coils make music

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

I caught this one from my twitter feed thanks to @funscience. The video is long and if you want to skip to the awesome bit – giant Tesla coils making the Doctor Who theme song then skip right to 6:43 in the movie.

Really though, it’s worth watching the whole thing to understand what this team of people have put together. It’s pretty wild stuff ionizing the air to act as speakers. The bolts of lightning in miniature makes it all complete.

Not a sunrise, but a galaxy rise = Awesome Sagan Remix

This video is popping up all over the place, so I’ll continue the wave. It’s worth the watch. In fact, it’s really worth the mp3 download.

I wish I had been into Cosmos as a kid. All those crazy biology, science, and nature shows I watched and yet I have no recollection as a kid of the show. Shame.
